What information belongs in a genset RFQ?
Use this checklist to give each supplier the same electrical, mechanical, controls, testing, and commercial scope.
Send the one line, load information, site conditions, scope boundaries, testing requirement, and delivery date together. Missing scope creates allowances, exclusions, and incomparable bids.
Electrical and load information
Provide both steady-state demand and transient requirements. If detailed studies are not complete, label every assumption and identify the largest motors and nonlinear loads.
- Required kW and kVA
- Voltage, phase, frequency, and wire configuration
- Load list and load steps
- Motor starting and UPS or VFD loads
- Grounding and neutral arrangement
- Breaker and fault-current requirements
Mechanical and site information
Describe the installation instead of relying on a generic outdoor-enclosure selection.
- Diesel, natural gas, propane, or dual fuel
- Indoor, outdoor, rooftop, or containerized
- Ambient temperature and altitude
- Sound target and measurement distance
- Wind, seismic, corrosion, and snow requirements
- Ventilation, radiator, and exhaust constraints
Controls and system integration
Include the ATS or paralleling sequence and every external interface. Clarify who supplies and programs each piece.
- Remote start and stop
- ATS quantity and sequence
- Paralleling and load sharing
- Load shed and priority blocks
- BMS or SCADA protocol
- Remote annunciation and monitoring
Commercial scope
State the requested date, destination, and services. A low equipment price can conceal freight, startup, testing, accessories, and scope gaps.
- Required on-site date
- Freight and unloading responsibility
- Startup and commissioning
- Factory and field testing
- Training and documentation
- Warranty start and duration
